Obama Names New DOJ Top Officials for Criminal and Civil Divisions Print E-mail

The Obama administration has named Tony West to head DOJ's civil division and Lanny Breuer to head DOJ's criminal division.

tonywest.jpgTony West is a former federal prosecutor, who is said to have played a major role in prosecuting the child pornography ring, "Orchid Club." According to his San Francisco law firms website, he has been an advisor to California Attorney General Bill Lockyer on high tech crime. West is also reported as having a major role in arguing for victims of child sexual exploitation to "recover restitution." West has been named to head DOJ's civil division.

breuer_lanny_070502.jpgLanny Breuer, from the same D.C. lobbying and law firm as Attorney General-designee Eric Holder, (Covington & Burling), is reported on his website as "specializing in white collar criminal and complex civil litigation, internal corporate investigations, congressional investigations, antitrust cartel proceedings, and other matters involving high-profile legal, political, and public relations risks." Breuer has been name to head DOJ's criminal division.
