The Issue: Special interest groups spend millions on lawyers, experts and analysts. But those who fight to protect children haven't had access to those kinds of resources.
What We Are Doing:
Developing model legislation
Identifying what works

IN STATE AFTER STATE, there are lawmakers and policymakers who want to do the right things for children, but just don't know how. Often, they would like to pass a law to protect children, but need practical expertise. Other times, they are seeking smart, hands-on policy advice from people who know how government and public bureaucracies really work.
Many special interest groups have "think tanks" and research arms, providing leaders with the specialized and ready-to-go tools they need. But there is an urgent need for this kind of real-world resource--without regard for party or ideology--focused on the single issue of child protection.
That's why Promise to Protect is developing a legislative and policy institute, bringing together legislative drafting specialists, law students, policy experts and community activists.
We know that every day in America, elected leaders and public servants are asking how they can do a better, smarter job protecting children. Our goal is to help them succeed.
